Why do linear guides need lubrication? When using linear guides, it is necessary to add lubricating oil to maintain the high efficiency of equipment operation, reduce wear and tear caused by friction, and also reduce the frequency of equipment downtime caused by maintenance, thereby improving production efficiency.
Lubrication requirements for linear guides (1) Make the guide rail work as close as possible to the liquid friction state to reduce friction resistance, reduce driving power, and improve efficiency. (2) Reduce rail wear and prevent rail corrosion. The flowing lubricating oil also plays a flushing role. (3) Avoid crawling under low speed and heavy load, and reduce vibration. (4) Reduce frictional heat at high speeds and minimize thermal deformation. 2. Selection of lubricating oil for linear guide rails Based on experience and data, the following factors are mainly considered when selecting lubricating oil for linear guide rails. (1) Lubricating oil that serves as both a lubricating medium and a guide for noise reduction. According to the needs of different types of linear guides, guide rail lubricating oil can be selected as a hydraulic medium simultaneously, which should meet the requirements of both the guide rail and the hydraulic system. (2) Choose the viscosity and adhesion of lubricating grease based on sliding speed and average pressure. 3. Requirements for lubricating grease for ball screw guide rails (1) Low friction coefficient, low torque, improves the efficiency of the screw and extends its service life; (2) Excellent high-speed lubrication and load-bearing capacity, compatible with most plastics; (3) Good anti micro motion wear protection can reduce mechanical noise generated by sliding friction micro vibration and maintain long-term noise reduction effect. 4. The benefits and selection methods of applying lubricating grease on the guide rail Lubricating grease with good adhesion can cover the solid lubricant on the friction surface of the guide rail, forming a bonded solid lubricating film to reduce friction and wear. There are many types of solid lubricants, which can be divided into metal, metal compound, inorganic, and organic based on basic raw materials. Adding solid lubricant powder to lubricating grease can enhance or improve its load-bearing capacity, aging performance, and high and low temperature performance. |
