Daily maintenance matters for precision guide rails

Firstly, when using precision guide rails, attention should be paid to the following daily maintenance items:

1、 Keep the guide rail and its surrounding environment clean, even if invisible dust enters the guide rail, it will increase the wear, vibration, and noise of the guide rail.


2、 The guide rail should be used and installed carefully, and strong stamping is not allowed. It is not allowed to directly hit the guide rail with a hammer, and pressure transmission through rolling elements is not allowed.


3、 Use appropriate and accurate installation tools for the guide rail, and try to use specialized tools to avoid using fabrics and short fibers.


4、 To prevent rusting of the guide rail, when directly taking the silver guide rail by hand, it is necessary to thoroughly wash off the sweat on the hands and apply high-quality mineral oil before operation. Special attention should be paid to rust prevention during the rainy season and summer.


Maintenance and lubrication oil for precision guide rails


Precision guide rails belong to precision transmission devices and must be lubricated. If used without lubrication, rolling must have appropriate lubrication methods. Due to the low oil demand and long oil replenishment cycle of the rolling linear guide rail pair (usually with a travel distance of over 100km), there is no problem of guide rail heating at normal speeds, so there is no need to force oil supply. Lithium soap grease No. 2 is usually used, and high viscosity lubricating oil is used during the day.


Linear guide rails sometimes come into contact with water, such as lathes and machining centers. Water often splashes onto the guide rails. If the water separation performance of the guide rail oil is poor, it will be decomposed by water, and oil droplets into the cutting fluid will cause cutting fluid pollution. Therefore, the water separation performance of the guide rail is extremely important. Some relatively rough machinery has large guide rails, simple structures, and pits on the guide rails. They are designed to be lubricated with lubricating grease, and most of them are manually squeezed with a grease gun to provide oil. Require all grease to be EP extreme pressure type, otherwise the remaining grease on the guide rail cannot withstand heavy loads after being extruded.


Lubrication and maintenance: There are sealing methods for grease lubrication, which include pre filling lubricating grease in the sealed guide rail, and filling an appropriate amount of lubricating grease inside the shell, which is supplemented or replaced at regular intervals. In addition, for machinery with multiple guide rails that require lubrication, a centralized grease supply method is adopted by connecting pipes to each lubrication point. Greasing lubrication can achieve a long time without the need for replenishment after filling with lubricating grease once, and its sealing device structure is also relatively simple, so it is widely used. Oil lubrication is relatively simple. Regular lubrication can greatly improve the service life of guide rails.


The importance of maintaining the silver guide rail


The purpose of maintenance: The main purpose of rail maintenance is to reduce operational wear and tear. Therefore, effective lubrication and maintenance of daily hygiene are particularly important.


The sliding seat does not directly contact the guide rail, and the ball is sealed in the groove between the sliding seat and the guide rail. When the linear guide rail is working, the ball rolls in the groove between the slide seat and the guide rail, and the friction of the guide rail is completely the friction between the ball and the groove between the slide seat and the guide rail. So the lubrication of the guide rail is actually the lubrication between the ball and the groove. There is an oil nozzle at the end of the linear guide rail, and grease can be injected into the interior of the guide rail and screw using a grease gun.


Lubrication and maintenance steps for precision guide rails:


1. Carefully wipe off the oil stains on the surface of the silver guide rail, especially the oil stains in the grooves; Pay attention to the oil stains in the mounting holes of the guide rail of the SMT machine.


2. Use a grease gun nozzle to add oil into the transmission chamber through the oil nozzle until the dirty oil inside is completely squeezed out. Remove the squeezed dirty oil.


3. Apply a small amount of grease on the surface of the guide rail with your fingers, prioritizing the groove.


4. Push the sliding seat back and forth several times to ensure even oil film.
